The Alaskan Klee Kai is a small-sized companion dog that is perceptive, vivacious, and inquisitive but timid around strangers and in strange environments.

Exercise

These dogs require an active owner who can provide them with at least an hour of daily activity. An Alaskan klee kai who is bored is prone to problematic behaviors like becoming violent or overly talkative.

The best exercises for Alaskan klee kai are long walks, jogs, and treks because they often have great stamina. Dog activities like agility can also assist to push them physically and emotionally. Additionally, when you need a break, food puzzles can occupy your dog.

Make careful to keep your dog in a safe, enclosed place or on a leash. It can be challenging to teach these dogs to respond when called. Additionally, despite their small stature, they are athletic enough to flee rapidly.

Grooming

These dogs have a medium-length, wiry outer hair and a short, dense undercoat. They shed moderately, but twice a year—in the spring and fall—shedding tends to rise. Brush your dog at least once a week to remove loose fur and avoid matting; during times of significant shedding, daily brushing may be required. Fortunately, the coat naturally repels dirt and maintains a decent level of cleanliness, necessitating only the occasional bath. Once a month or so, check your dog’s nails to see if they require cutting. In addition, strive to regularly brush its teeth.

Training

These intelligent canines typically pick things up quickly and like to think things through. However, they also have a free-spirited, independent side to them that can make training more challenging. They frequently react favourably to motivational and incentive-based training techniques. Often, the best approach to motivate people to train is to make it look fun to them.

Attempt to enroll your puppy in an obedience class as soon as you can to begin training. Additionally, begin socializing your dog when it is still a puppy. Alaskan klee kai are wary of strangers and frequently bark when they sense something uncomfortable. Therefore, giving kids favorable experiences with various individuals and circumstances might aid in increasing their comfort and confidence.

Diet and Nutrition

Make sure your dog always has access to fresh water. In addition, feed your dog a high-quality, nutritionally-balanced meal. Since this can differ depending on size, age, and other factors, talk to your vet about the right variety and quantity.

Most owners give their animals two metered meals a day. Instead of feeding your dog in a bowl, consider using a puzzle feeder to help stimulate his mind. Alaskan Klee kai aren’t prone to obesity because they are active dogs. To avoid overeating, it’s still crucial to measure their food and keep an eye on how many treats they consume.
