Ragamuffin Cat

ragamuffin

Description

 Size: 10-20lbs.

The Ragamuffin is a big cat with a long body. It has a long tail, a thick coat, and heavy bones. The Ragamuffin looks to be much larger than she actually is. Although it has a medium-sized head, her face appears larger due to her fur. To retain the triangular shape of the face, the medium-sized ears are placed on the sides of the head. The legs are sturdy and long. Blue oval eyes and a well-proportioned chin are ideal.

The Ragamuffin is available in a variety of tones and patterns. Some of these color schemes resemble ragdoll color schemes. The color-pointed Ragamuffin has a light body color with contrasting, darker color on the extremities, face, and ears.

Behavior

 Activity Level: Moderate

Social needs: Enjoy pets and human company

The Ragamuffin is a cuddly lug that loves the opportunity to follow his owners about and curl up on a lap whenever available. It is sometimes referred to as puppylike for its welcoming temperament and readiness to play fetch and learn tricks. He is a good blend of sweet and intelligent. They welcome visitors at the entryway and follow their favorite people around the house to observe their behavior.

Origin/History

The Ragamuffin and Ragdoll are related. Some breeders desired to add new patterns and colors, while others believed it was critical to expand the breed’s gene pool. Because Ann Baker, the creator of the Ragdoll breed, closely regulated breeding, a new group developed to establish its own breed. They outcrossed Himalayans, Persians, and domestic longhaired cats in order to enhance size and bring about other differences in appearance that would distinguish the Ragamuffin from the Ragdoll. Ragamuffin was named in part to pay tribute to the founding breed.

Care as a Pet

Without proper dental care, Ragamuffin cats are susceptible to periodontal disease, just like any other breed of cat. If you can’t brush your cat’s teeth every day, try to do so at least once every week. In moderation, tartar control treats can be given, but they shouldn’t be your cat’s primary means of oral care.

Ragamuffin

Ragamuffins are very energetic and adore being petted by their owners, but they can get bored easily if not given enough stimulation. You should set aside some time every day to play with your Ragamuffin. Numerous cat toys, games, and even fetch can keep him or her occupied and amused. Ragamuffins are known for their lively nature, so even something as simple as a ball can keep her occupied for several hours.

Nutrition and Diet

Although Ragamuffins are large cats, they shouldn’t be overweight, so it’s important to avoid overfeeding them like you would any other cat. Depending on his or her age, sex, and level of activity, your Ragamuffin’s nutritional requirements will vary, but in general, he or she should consume one dish of premium cat food every day. You can include some wet food into meals a few times a week to offer some variety to the diet.

Consult your veterinarian about the best diet for your pet if you’re unsure of how much to feed your Ragamuffin or believe that he or she is putting on too much weight.

Grooming needs

The Ragamuffin’s coat requires less maintenance than it may seem. The coat should be brushed regularly. Grooming needs may differ depending on coat length.
