Description
Platinum Only 10% of English Bulldogs will have coloured fur on their bodies, which will be colourless. These erratic colour patterns can emerge on any area of the body or face. Platinum is essentially a dog that is completely white. Platinum is a LACK of pigment rather than a colour. Therefore, it is possible to create a genetic True Colour Dog, such as a Dark Chocolate Tri that is all white! Since a few years ago, it has been recognised that dogs with spots of colour that account for 10% or less of their overall body colour may be given the title of Platinum. The desired True Platinum is entirely covered in white. White spotting and the SS Parti gene are related.
Gene for Coat Color
The Platinum gene is one of the genes that determine your dog’s color. It is a dominant gene, meaning it will appear in a dog if both parents have it. If both parents have the Platinum gene, this means they will have the colors -White (this can also happen with other colors, but not always)-Grey (if both parents are blue or black)-Brown (if both parents are white). Platinum is a gorgeous coat color found in any dog breed but is most prevalent in cocker spaniels, beagles, and Labrador retrievers. The recessive version of this gene will cause your dog to be black or grey. Platinum dogs come in all colors but are most commonly found in black and white. The platinum gene can be passed from parent to offspring through breeding and genetic mutation, but it is much more likely to be passed from parent to offspring if it is a dominant trait rather than a recessive trait.
