Physical Characteristics
Its body is brown and covered with tiny dots of pale blue. When you look at the fish’s fins, you’ll see that they are light blue with red margins and possibly some red patterns. The eyes of the fish are blue with a unique narrow red border. The fish’s shorter fins can be seen if you compare them to betta fish. Male dazzling gouramis have pointed fins and a crimson stripe that spans the length of their bodies. When kept in captivity, fish have a three- to four-year lifespan on average.
Temperament
A calm, well-behaved little fish, the Sparkling Gourami is perfect for planted aquariums or communities of small fish.
Habitat
Any still-to-slow-moving, primarily lowland habitat types, such as peat swamps, river tributaries, floodplains, rice fields, irrigation canals, and roadside ditches, are home to this species.

- Feeding
In the wild, it most likely consumes insects and other tiny invertebrates. To ensure the development of ideal color and condition, captive fish should be provided enough of small live or frozen feeds like Daphnia, Artemia, or chironomid larvae (bloodworm). Captive fish will typically eat dried items once they are recognised as appetizing.
- Tank mates
Ideally kept in pairs or small groups, either by itself or with extremely calm, similar-sized species, as much larger or more ferocious tank mates are likely to intimidate and outcompete it. Choices for small schooling cyprinids include Microdevario, Boraras, and Trigonostigma species. Tiny loaches like Pangio and Petruichthys are also suitable options.
